The head of the regional Central Bank has been arrested in Ingushetia

Magomed-Bek Uzhakhov, head of the regional branch of the Bank of Russia in Ingushetia, has been arrested for two months on charges of abuse of office.

According to investigators, Uzhakhov knew about the theft of funds by his relative, an employee of the Central Bank's mobile workstation, and failed to take the necessary measures. Furthermore, he falsified documents, making the circulation of the stolen property appear legitimate.

It is alleged that the relative of the regional Central Bank's head stole over 4 million rubles worth of Bank of Russia property between February 2023 and October 2024.

Uzhakhov faces punishment under Article 285 of the Russian Criminal Code, which carries a fine or imprisonment for up to four years.
