In Ingushetia, an imam was fined for failing to report a crime
The Karabulak District Court of Ingushetia fined 37-year-old imam Magomed Sultygov 50,000 rubles for failing to report a crime.
According to the court, in August 2023, Sultygov learned from his acquaintance, Khizar Ganiev, that he was a member of a cell of the Islamic State (banned in Russia) terrorist organization, led by Amirkhan Gurazhev. Ganiev asked Sultygov to help raise funds under the guise of charity, but Sultygov refused and also failed to report the matter to law enforcement.
Criminal proceedings were not initiated against Ganiev in connection with his death. Sultygov pleaded guilty to failing to report a crime and was sentenced to a fine.
