Armenian law enforcement agencies have detained 14 activists of the Strong Armenia opposition party, led by Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan. The head of the party's office has been charged with violating the legal ban on charitable donations, according to party spokesperson Ghramanyan.
The head of the Nazran Department of Internal Affairs, Police Colonel Ilez Kilimatov, was arrested in Ingushetia. According to the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, he provided patronage to residents of the republic who were illegally mining sand and gravel for 500,000 rubles a month.
"Officers searched Kilimatov's house, which he clearly built with his salary, and discovered three foreign cars worth 30 million rubles, as well as jewelry, cash, and other items," the VChK-OGPU noted.
According to the channel, the organizers of the illegal business arrested in this case also testified against other "protection racketeers"—Ingush Deputy Prime Minister Magomed Yevloyev and his brother, Akhmed Yevloyev, who is wanted in a criminal case involving land fraud and illegal mining.
"It is known that Deputy Prime Minister Yevloyev does not work alone, but in conjunction with Gilani Kalimatov, the nephew of the head of Ingushetia, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov. In fact, everything in the republic is currently conducted along this chain (Yevloyev - Gilani Kalimatov): any appointments, the sale of positions, land issues, etc. At the very least, the head of the republic refers them to his nephew for all complex matters," the Cheka-OGPU concluded.
