A world jiu-jitsu champion was detained in Ingushetia on suspicion of aiding ISIS

FSB officers detained world jiu-jitsu champion Seyd-Umar Imagozhev in Ingushetia. He is suspected of aiding an ISIS cell (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). According to the intelligence services, he maintained contact and assisted in the crimes of the “militants” who were killed in early March in Karabulak.

During the interrogation, Imagozhev said that one of the killed, Zelimkhan Tsuroev, had previously approached him with a request to lubricate the pistol. After this, Imagozhev met with Tsuroev in the mosque, where the second of them asked to buy horns for a machine gun, explaining that this was necessary for jihad. He offered to join and “go out on jihad together,” but Imagozhev refused.

On March 3, in Karabulak, six people barricaded themselves in an apartment in a multi-story building. After a long shootout, they were killed by security forces.
