Preliminary results of the flooding that occurred in late March 2026 have been released in Chechnya. According to current data, the disaster affected over 3,000 homes, over 100 of which were completely destroyed.
The trial of Imam Muhammad Tamaskhanov, who is charged with failure to report a terrorist crime (Article 205.6 of the Russian Criminal Code), continues in Ingushetia. During a regular hearing in the Magas District Court, testimony from a secret witness under the pseudonym "Pliev" was heard.
The witness stated that he regularly attended the mosque where Tamaskhanov speaks, but his testimony was inconsistent. He was unable to specify the location of the mosque, described the large building as "small" and "one-story," and misstated the end time of prayers. The defense questioned the credibility of this testimony.
As a reminder, Imams Muhammad Tamaskhanov and Magomed Sultygov were arrested in the spring of 2025 on charges of failure to report terrorism. These events sparked a public outcry. There were reports of possible pressure on the imams' supporters, who could have been threatened with criminal prosecution for participating in the protests. There were also reports of the possible use of illegal interrogation methods against Tamaskhanov.
According to investigators, the persecution is connected to an attempt to extract confessions from the imams regarding their ties to Gurazhev's group, which is accused of attacks on security forces in 2023.
As a reminder, the group associated with Amirkhan Gurazhev attracted attention in 2023 after an alleged attack on a traffic police post, which resulted in injuries to law enforcement officers. In March 2024, a special operation was conducted in Karabulak, which, according to security forces, resulted in the deaths of several Ingush residents, including Gurazhev.
