In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a member of the SVO was sentenced to two years in prison

The Nalchik Garrison Military Court sentenced 39-year-old contract soldier Batyr Kanshokov to two years in prison. He was found guilty of evading military service, while from September 2023 to January 2024 he took part in the SVO.

In January 2023, Kanshokov voluntarily left the military unit in the DPR and went home to the village of Beloglinskoye in the Tersky District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, "to spend time with his family." He soon contacted the military prosecutor's office of the garrison in Nalchik.

In court, Batyr Kanshokov admitted that he had given his brother false information. He had previously given testimony from which it follows that the defendant was being transferred to another unit and was allowed to stay at home. Later, Batyr told his brother that in the “special operation” zone “psychological violence was used against him, involving threats of murder and long-term imprisonment in a pit as punishment.” As a result, the “SVO” member was sentenced to two years in a general regime penal colony.
