During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court found contract soldier Sergei Ti guilty of evading military service. He was sentenced to one year of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
According to investigators, Sergei Ti, a resident of the village of Prokhladny (Karabakh Republic), signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense in May 2023. He participated in the war against Ukraine and was wounded. In April of this year, the man voluntarily left the military unit in Crimea and returned home to care for his sick mother. Then he contacted the military investigation department in Nalchik, since he "had no intention of evading service."
The court decided that the private voluntarily left the unit and did not have difficult life circumstances requiring him to stay at home. Mitigating circumstances included the presence of a minor child, a confession, sincere repentance, his wife's pregnancy, and participation in the SVO. As a result, the contract soldier was sentenced to one year in prison.
