In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, a serviceman was sentenced to five years for deserting his military unit

A military court in Nalchik sentenced Atmir Tokhov to five years in prison for leaving his military unit without leave.

According to the case file, Tokhov committed the crime on November 8, 2024, leaving his duty station without a valid reason. He was arrested on December 10, 2025, in the city of Nartkala, but spent the entire time from the moment he left until his arrest at his place of residence.

Tokhov pleaded guilty in full. He was sentenced to five years in a general regime penal colony.

The Nalchik Garrison Military Court has previously sentenced contract soldiers and mobilized personnel to prison terms on numerous occasions. Specifically, Algiz Valitov received two years in prison, and Timur Yandiev and Amerkhan Kurskiyev received five years. Arsen Baev and Murat Khapov were sentenced to seven and five years in prison, respectively.
