The number of murders has increased in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and Chechnya

In 2023, 35 murders were committed in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. This is twice as much as in 2022 (14), reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

In Chechnya, 20 murders were recorded. At the same time, during 2018-2022. there were no more than 18 of them per year.

In addition, in a number of regions of the North Caucasian Federal District, the number of detected extortion cases has increased. In Ingushetia - 10 crimes in 2023, whereas previously there were no more than 5 per year. The statistics of extortion in North Ossetia (35) and Stavropol Territory (234) turned out to be record high.

The number of registered grave and especially grave crimes in Ingushetia has increased by 27% since the beginning of the SVO. An increase in such crimes also occurred in Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia and North Ossetia.
