During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
The Moscow police received a statement from two underage girls from Dagestan who were recently attacked by a passerby because they were wearing hijabs. An investigation is underway.
This was reported by the head of the Public Monitoring Commission of Dagestan, Shamil Khadulaev, citing the Novogireevo District Department of Internal Affairs in Moscow. According to him, the victims are sisters, aged 15 and 17. Khadulaev added that human rights activists have already contacted the girls, without specifying who exactly.
The attack became known on September 4, when a video filmed by one of the victims was distributed online. In particular, it was published on the Telegram channel "Beware, Moscow". The recording began during the conflict, but the context makes it clear that the woman mistook the girls for natives of Tajikistan.
Recently in Russia, particularly in Moscow, there have been more and more cases of racist attacks on Muslim women in hijabs. As a rule, women are subjected to verbal abuse based on their ethnic and religious affiliation. They are required to "go home", although most of the victims, as it turns out, are natives of the national republics that are part of the Russian Federation.
