The Russian Federation again expressed regret about Armenia’s rapprochement with NATO

The Russian Federation regrets Armenia's participation in the NATO summit in Washington. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin. According to him, with such actions Yerevan, which still remains a member of the CSTO, risks seriously destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus to the detriment of its own security.

“Armenia prefers to increase interaction with NATO or individual members of the alliance. Especially in terms of introducing NATO standards, purchasing weapons or conducting joint combat training activities, not to mention participation in the summit of this military-political bloc taking place in Washington these days. All this cannot but cause anything but extreme regret,” he said.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan arrived on a working visit to Washington to participate in events marking the 75th anniversary of NATO, held on July 9-10.

“Armenia has the political will to conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as soon as possible,” Mirzoyan wrote on the social network following a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov and US Secretary of State Blinken in Washington.
