117 Crimean Tatar political prisoners kept in Russian colonies

117 representatives of the Crimean Tatar people are serving their sentences in colonies and prisons of the Russian Federation on politically motivated cases. This was stated by the head of the Crimean Tatar resource center Eskender Bariev.

According to him, hundreds of people are prosecuted administratively, they are fined, arrested for several days. In addition, there are lists of forbidden topics, literature and songs for residents of the occupied Crimea. “This is the kind of “democracy” the Russian invaders brought to Crimea. Since 2015, the Russian authorities of the peninsula have been trying to ban the symbols of the Crimean Tatar people, the flag,” said Bariev.
