The North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) is seeing an increase in tourist flow

The regions of the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) will continue to see growth in tourist flow in 2025. Head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov, reported a record figure: the region welcomed over two million tourists, a 13.7% increase over 2024.

Kokov attributed the growth to the implementation of the presidential program to increase accommodation capacity. There are 627 accommodation facilities in the KBR with a total capacity of over 22,000 beds (compared to 15,000 in 2019).

Karachay-Cherkessia entered the top six Russian regions for the number of new hotel rooms in 2025, leading the growth in tourist flow, with a 128% increase.

Ingushetia's Head of State, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, also noted the successes, stating that for the first time in the republic's history, tourist arrivals exceeded 125,000, a 53% increase from the previous year.

The New Year holidays marked a successful start to the year, with 70,700 visitors visiting the North Caucasus Federal District's ski resorts, an 18% increase (11,000 more than last year).

The 2026 World Press Freedom Index, published this morning by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), records the worst deterioration in global media freedom in 25 years. More than half of the world's countries rank the situation as "challenging" or "very challenging," and the average index level has never been lower.
