A man allegedly plotting a terrorist attack on the "Defenders of the Fatherland" state foundation building was killed in Stavropol

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation announced the suppression of the activities of a Russian citizen who was allegedly planning a terrorist attack in Stavropol on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence agencies. According to the FSB, the target of the attack was the building of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" state foundation branch and the adjacent Memorial Square for those killed in the line of military duty.

Investigators claim that the man, a member of a banned Ukrainian terrorist organization, received instructions for making an improvised explosive device, purchased the components, and set up a hiding place. While attempting to carry out his criminal plan during his arrest, he allegedly opened fire, leading to his elimination by security forces in response.

A statement from the FSB Public Relations Center noted that there were no casualties among security forces or civilians. A criminal case has been opened under the article "Preparation for a Terrorist Act."
