The Defense Ministry's "talking head"—the deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, also the commander of one of the "Akhmat" formations—has been promoting the idea of a global, joint confrontation between Russian Muslims and Christians against "Satanism" since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. He regularly finds himself in various scrapes: with the Zetniks, with nationalists, and with Orthodox priests. And the more he tries to "cross a snake and a hedgehog" with his obvious desire to be "one of the guys," the more harshly he is criticized from all sides.
On February 9, US Vice President J.D. Vance, along with his wife and three children, arrived in Yerevan. The plane landed at Zvartnots International Airport, where the guests were greeted by Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan.
During the official visit, Vance met with the Prime Minister and President of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan and Vahagn Khachatryan.
According to Armenpress, after meeting with Pashinyan, the US Vice President, commenting on the prospects of the TRIPP project, stated that he sees great global investment interest in Armenia.
"Today we talked a lot about how to accelerate the process. Mr. Prime Minister is also interested in moving forward as quickly as possible, because economic prosperity is beneficial both for peace and for development. Of course, the United States will play a constructive and positive role, but, in my opinion, the issue here is not about money. "There's a lot of interest, interest from around the world, and people are confident they can make a significant profit by investing in Armenia. The key question here is how we take peacemaking to the next stage," Vance told reporters.
He added that Nikol Pashinyan is someone capable of building a long-term partnership, noting that while this "won't happen overnight," significant progress has been made since August 8.
The agency also reports that Pashinyan and Vance signed an agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
"This agreement will open a new chapter in deepening the energy partnership between Armenia and the United States and will contribute to the diversification of Armenia's energy resources through the introduction of safe and innovative technologies," Pashinyan concluded.
He thanked the United States for its long-standing support for Armenia in nuclear safety and expressed interest in further cooperation in areas of high priority for both countries.
Furthermore, Armenpress, citing the Public Relations Department of the Armenian Presidential Administration, shared details of Vance's meeting with Vahagn Khachatryan. Khachatryan, according to the agency, welcomed the US Vice President's visit, emphasizing that it reflects the high level of relations between Washington and Yerevan. The head of state emphasized the importance of establishing peace in the region and, in this context, praised the role of US President Donald Trump. It was also reported that the meeting also noted that reciprocal high-level visits contribute to expanding cooperation and further strengthening ties between the two countries.
According to a statement from the US State Department, the purpose of the American delegation led by Vance to Armenia and Azerbaijan is to promote US President Donald Trump's peace initiatives and support the TRIPP project.
