Chechen authorities have denied reports that Ramzan Kadyrov’s son has established an armed unit

Adam Kadyrov, the 18-year-old son of the head of Chechnya, appeared in a photograph alongside a group of armed young men identified as members of the "K-13" team—a "unit founded by the grandson of the first President of the Chechen Republic, who also serves as the Secretary of the Security Council of the Chechen Republic."

The image was posted on an Instagram account dedicated to Ramzan Kadyrov’s son.

"These are men of their word, honor, and discipline, ready to carry out any assignment, regardless of time or place. Loyalty to the cause, determination, and responsibility are the principles that guide the K-13 team," the post states.

The publication does not clarify the group’s specific objectives or whether it holds any official status.

Journalists from the outlet *Verstka* managed to identify some of the men in the photo. On October 19, the outlet reported that Adam Kadyrov had formed an armed unit, with more than half of its members consisting of his own relatives, as well as the sons of high-ranking Chechen government officials and security figures. Specifically, among the 18 men pictured, *Verstka* identified 18-year-old Ramzan Daudov—son of Chechen Prime Minister Magomed Daudov—and 21-year-old Yakub Chalayev—son of Zamid Chalayev, commander of the Akhmat Kadyrov Special Purpose Police Regiment.

Chechen authorities deny the existence of any such separate armed unit. Ilman Vakhidov, the republic’s Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press, and Information, told the TASS news agency that "no separate unit exists—certainly not one created by Adam Kadyrov." He further noted that the Instagram account that shared the photograph is not an official source of information.
