Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko congratulated Ingushetia on the 256th anniversary of its accession to Russia, noting the "dynamic development" and growth of production in the republic, which she called "one of the main strongholds of our state in the North Caucasus."
If the EU wants to reduce political polarization in Georgia and calm the situation, it will grant the country the status of candidate. Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the ruling party «Georgian Dream» expressed such opinion.
He added that it is in the interests of the radical opposition that Georgia not be granted this status. «They directly expect that in December the EU will again make an unjust decision and they will use it to create chaos and change power», Kobakhidze said.
The European Parliament believes that Georgia may be eligible for EU membership, even if the 12 recommendations are not fully implemented. The 2024 elections and their preparatory period will play an important role in this process, and the EU will monitor compliance with all norms.
