The Russian authorities again criticized Europe for supporting Armenia

The European Union has lost its peaceful potential, even in words. He is doing everything to turn the post-Soviet space into a zone of military confrontation. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Zakharova, commenting on the EU allocation of military assistance to Armenia worth 10 million euros.

“Behind the EU’s plans to send 10 million euros to the Armenian Armed Forces are geopolitical calculations to spread its destructive influence in Transcaucasia. Well, how can the collective West survive the fact that there will be one less hot region on the map!? But it is up to the sovereign country of Armenia to decide how to build its policy and defense,” Zakharova shared her conclusions. According to her, there is not a single fact when such European assistance was directed towards a peace agenda - only to incite conflicts.

Zakharova also noted that Russia pledged to contribute in every possible way to achieving peace between Baku and Yerevan. “We view the conclusion of a balanced agreement as the basis of the architecture of peace,” she said.

Earlier, the Armenian authorities announced the suspension of membership in the pro-Russian CSTO bloc and their desire to become candidates for membership in the EU. In addition, the country conducts military exercises with the United States and has increased its purchases of weapons and military equipment from Europe and India.
