A resident of Dagestan who spoke out against the SVO was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison
The Southern District Military Court found 25-year-old Ulkyar Gashimova from Dagestan guilty under articles on calls for terrorism and extremism. The girl was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
The reason for the criminal prosecution were her anti-war comments in Telegram channels, in which the investigation found signs of calls for terrorism and extremism. Ulkyar Gashimova spoke out in support of Ukraine and for the independence of the peoples of the Russian Federation. She also wrote that Dagestan historically belongs to Azerbaijan.
Initially, a court in Moscow arrested Gashimova under the article on disobeying a demand of a government official when crossing the state border. She tried to fly from Sheremetyevo Airport to Belgrade in order to request political asylum in the Netherlands during a transfer. After her arrest, she was sent by plane to Dagestan.
