Over the year, the population of the North Caucasus Federal District grew by only 24 thousand people

In 2023, the population of the North Caucasus Federal District increased by 24 thousand people compared to 2022. In total, 10.2 million people live in the district.

The largest population was recorded in Dagestan (3.2 million people), Stavropol Territory (2.8 million) and Chechnya (1.5 million).

The fewest people are in Karachay-Cherkessia - 468 thousand people. The figures are slightly higher in Ingushetia (527 thousand), North Ossetia (679 thousand) and Kabardino-Balkaria (905 thousand).

The urban population in the North Caucasus Federal District is 5.2 million people, the rural population is 4.9 million.
