The 2026 World Press Freedom Index, published this morning by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), records the worst deterioration in global media freedom in 25 years. More than half of the world's countries rank the situation as "challenging" or "very challenging," and the average index level has never been lower. A key trend is increasing legal pressure on the media: of the five indicators used to assess press freedom worldwide (economy, law, security, politics, culture, and society), the "law" indicator showed the most significant decline.
Fines to be introduced for distributing photos and videos of drones in North Ossetia
North Ossetia plans to introduce administrative liability for distributing photos and videos related to unmanned aerial vehicles. Earlier, Ukrainian UAVs repeatedly attacked a military airfield in Mozdok.
A bill has been submitted to the republic's parliament that provides for fines for publishing data on drone flights, moments of their destruction, the operation of air defense systems, and the consequences of attacks using UAVs.
If the law is adopted, citizens will face a fine of 3 to 5 thousand rubles for such violations. For officials, fines will range from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, and for legal entities - from 100 to 200 thousand rubles.
