Chechen resident sentenced to 11 years «for preparing for armed struggle with the authorities»

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov sentenced Rasul Baysultanov, a resident of Chechnya, to 11 years' imprisonment. He was convicted of a terrorist offence - planning an armed struggle against the authorities in Chechnya.

According to the investigators, Baysultanov in the autumn of 2022 joined the extremist chat room messenger created in France. One of the group members placed explosives in a cache in Grozny. Baysultanov was accused of transporting the bomb to another cache. According to the defendant’s defence, it was a fake that was quickly planted by the security forces.
