A Dagestani resident was convicted of preparing to fight against the government

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Dagestani resident Said-Apendi Aliadzhiev to 13 years in a maximum-security prison colony on charges of terrorism and extremism.

In justifying the sentence, the court cited the investigation's version of events: in the summer of 2023, Aliadzhiev, according to the prosecution, decided to create an illegal armed group to fight against government officials and security forces. To this end, he allegedly recruited acquaintances (including two minors), ordered a knife, and studied instructions for making explosives.

The man was also charged with creating a social media channel with an ISIS flag and posting an extremist video. Evidence in the case has not been presented to the public, and the position of the convicted man or his lawyer has not been disclosed.
