In Dagestan, Umaraskhab Alibekov, a father of many children, was found guilty of failing to report a planned terrorist attack that killed 22 people. The charge is based on the fact that he knew about the planned attacks on Makhachkala and Derbent but failed to notify authorities.
Dagestani man sentenced for alleged ISIS recruitment
The Southern District Military Court sentenced Dagestani Shamil Aliyev to 14 years in a maximum security penal colony. The investigation claimed that he participated in ISIS (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) and tried to recruit others to it.
According to security forces, Aliyev swore allegiance to the terrorist organization in 2024. Soon after, he left for Adygea, where he met an Afghan citizen and tried to recruit him to ISIS. Allegedly, he "immersed the victim in the basics of criminal ideology, showed audio and video content about the organization's activities."
As a result, the Dagestani was brought to criminal responsibility for participation in a terrorist organization and recruitment.
