An Ingushetia resident was convicted of providing access to his bank cards to an acquaintance

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don convicted Ingushetia resident Timerlan Kartoyev. He was found guilty of aiding and abetting the financing of terrorism and sentenced to 16 years in prison.

According to investigators, in 2018, Kartoyev provided an acquaintance with access to his bank cards and passwords for a fee. He allegedly needed them to raise money for charity.

When Kartoyev learned in April 2021 that the cards were being used to finance terrorism, he, according to investigators, continued to facilitate the criminal scheme for selfish motives. Over the course of several months, over 264,000 rubles, intended for terrorist organizations, were transferred to the cards he provided. The court sentenced Kartoev to 16 years in prison, the first 5 of which he will spend in prison and the subsequent 5 in a maximum security penal colony.
