During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
The cassation court refused to acquit Ingushetia resident Gapur Galaev in the case of illegal sale of weapons and potent substances. Previously, the Supreme Court of the Republic, based on a jury verdict, found him not guilty, but the next instance, at the request of the investigation, sentenced the man to six years in prison.
In court, Gapur Galaev repeatedly stated that he was subjected to torture and the planting of prohibited substances by security forces, which was confirmed by one of the witnesses. As a result, the accused was forced to sign a confession.
The court ignored his requests to call defense witnesses. In addition, the disabilities of Glavaev, his mother and wife, as well as the presence of five children, were not taken into account.
