The Southern District Military Court sentenced a 42-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, who is on the international wanted list, in absentia. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison on terrorism charges.

According to the Krasnodar Krai Prosecutor's Office, the investigation and the court established that the defendant belonged to a terrorist organization, had received specialized training in mine and explosives, and had participated in combat operations as part of an illegal armed group. The case was heard without the defendant present.

The man was found guilty of three counts related to participation in a terrorist organization, training for terrorist activity, and participation in an illegal armed group. The first four years of his sentence must be served in prison, and the remaining 14 years in a maximum-security penal colony. He was also given a suspended sentence of 18 months.

In late August, it was reported that 12 residents of the North Caucasus had been detained on terrorism charges. Eleven of them were detained by the FSB in the Zolsky District of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to the security service, they were members of an international terrorist organization, spreading radical ideology, and committing violent attacks against people who did not share their views. The agency failed to publicly provide evidence for these allegations, depriving human rights activists and lawyers of the opportunity to verify the prosecution's case.
