A resident of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic will be tried in the case of Chechen publisher Aslambek Ezhaev

A criminal case against Anzor Abrekov from the Karachay-Cherkess Republic has been transferred to the Second Western District Military Court. He will be tried on charges of financing terrorism.

According to investigators, in July 2017, Abrekov, while in Cherkessk, transferred more than 100 thousand rubles to the account of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia. He allegedly did this at the request of Moscow resident Aslambek Ezhaev.

In 2023, the Chechen publisher of Muslim literature, the head of the largest Islamic publishing house in Russia, Umma, Aslambek Ezhaev, was sentenced to 17 years in prison. According to investigators, he financed terrorists for many years, using funds from publishing activities. In total, he allegedly transferred 33 million rubles.

According to lawyers Murad Musayev and Eva Chanieva, a serious violation of the investigation was the use of testimony from secret witnesses who were unable to indicate the source of their information. The case materials do not contain interrogation protocols for any of the 29 people allegedly sponsoring terrorism through Aslambek Ezhayev.
