Residents of Ingushetia complain about endless checks and searches under the CTO regime

For the fifth month in the Malgobek region of Ingushetia, the regime of the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) continues to operate. He was introduced on April 3, after an armed group was put on the wanted list, which attacked the security forces three times in a week and a half. Two of the attackers were later found dead, four are in hiding. This was reported by the human rights center "Memorial".

As part of the CTO, the security forces arrange inspections in different settlements of the district. They block exits from villages, check documents, inspect cars, conduct searches in the courtyards of houses. There are a lot of armored vehicles and armed security officials in balaclavas on the streets.

“They have a CTO regime, they receive a good allowance and travel allowances. Where are they in a hurry? Yes, and the visibility of activity must be created. I don't see any other explanation. We have about 700 households in the village. At this rate, they will carry out these checks for a long time to come,” a local resident told the Memorial Center volunteer.
