On July 4, Zarema Musayeva could be sentenced to five and a half years in prison

On July 4, the Akhmatovsky District Court of Grozny will pass judgment on Zarema Musayeva. Earlier, the prosecutor's office asked to sentence the woman to 5.5 years in prison.

Lawyers of the Team Against Torture believe that Zarema's accusations of using violence against a police officer and fraud are unfounded and illegal. They are based on the testimony of fictitious witnesses. Some of them changed their testimony during the investigation. The examination also does not confirm Musayeva's involvement in the crimes.

Recall that Zarema Musaeva was abducted in Nizhny Novgorod in January 2022, and then taken to Chechnya. The woman suffers from type 2 diabetes and a number of concomitant diseases that require constant medical supervision. Despite this, she is being held in a pre-trial detention center on charges of violence against a representative of the authorities, which is dangerous to life and health. According to investigators, when delivered, she scratched the face of a police officer.

The woman is actually being held hostage for the opposition activities of her sons, according to one of them, Abubakar Yangulbaev.
