Lawyer of a doctor from Ingushetia argued his innocence in the terrorist case

The defence of the famous Ingush paediatrician Bagaudin Gaitukiev filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office against the decision of the investigative committee. He had previously indicted a man on the new charges of aiding and abetting terrorist activities and illegal possession of weapons. This was reported by the Human Rights Center «Memorial».
Gaitukiev categorically denies the accusation that he handed the gun over to a witness, a member of the NVF. The witness retracted his statement during the interrogation. In addition, Gaitukiev has an alibi: at the time of committing the «crime» he was outside Russia, which is confirmed by the testimony of witnesses and marks in the passport. The investigation has no evidence that Gaitukiev helped a terrorist organization, says Buzurtanov’s lawyer.
Bagaudin Gaitukiev was detained in March 2022 and charged with aiding and abetting members of the banned armed group. He became known in Ingushetia due to the operation carried out in 2009 by the head of the republic Yunus-Beku Yevkurov. He was wounded after a suicide attack on his motorcade. In addition to medical activity, the doctor is actively engaged in charity work, helped poor and orphans to build houses, buy medicines and go for treatment abroad.
