The defender of the natives of Dagestan is being checked by Sledkom

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is conducting an investigation into lawyer Aza Aliyeva. Allegedly, she published a video on her Instagram account with a speech by Chechen field commander Ruslan (Khamzat) Gelayev.

“The actions of one of the Moscow lawyers are being discussed on social media, who posted a video on the Internet with statements from a person recognized as a terrorist,” reports the official Telegram channel of Sledkom. The chairman of the department, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed him to report to him on the results of the inspection.

The names of Aza Aliyeva and Ruslan Gelayev, who was killed in 2004, are not mentioned in the ICR message, but on January 1, one of the anti-migrant telegram channels published a screen recording of a video allegedly posted by Aliyeva.

Earlier, the National Association of Lawyers of Russia (NALA) spoke out in defense of Aza Aliyeva, who voiced information about the torture of natives of Dagestan in a colony in Kalmykia and violence in pre-trial detention center No. 1 in the Saratov region. Prior to this, the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Saratov Region filed a complaint against the lawyer with the regional chamber of lawyers and demanded that she be brought to disciplinary liability for disclosing torture practices.

Aza Aliyeva defends the rights of victims in the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service and tries to protect them from pressure from violators, the National Association of Lawyers of Russia emphasized. Thanks to the work of human rights defenders, facts of torture, abuse of power and violations of the rights of prisoners have been revealed. NAJUR considers it unacceptable to harass lawyers for their professional activities.
