The Southern District Military Court sentenced Dagestani resident Said-Apendi Aliadzhiev to 13 years in a maximum-security prison colony on charges of terrorism and extremism.
A lawyer from Dagestan was awarded compensation for torture by security forces
The ECHR ordered the Russian authorities to pay compensation of 12.5 thousand euros to Dagestan lawyer Magomed Magomedov. He was recognized as a victim of beating by security forces in Makhachkala.
In 2019, Magomedov was beaten by security forces after he did not want to leave his client alone with them. As a result, the lawyer was diagnosed with bruises on his shoulders.
The courts recognized the refusal to initiate criminal proceedings as legal. As a result, the victim was forced to appeal to the ECHR.
