Aliyev said that Armenia will not withstand an arms race with Azerbaijan
The supply of offensive weapons by France to Armenia poses a practical threat to Azerbaijan. Baku has repeatedly conveyed to Yerevan and its patrons in the United States that the armament must be stopped. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He added that Armenia will not withstand an "arms race" with Azerbaijan.

"They must also understand that, despite the maximum support of the Macron regime, as well as the US State Department, here on earth, if they plan another provocation against us, no one will help them," Aliyev warned.

According to the Azerbaijani leader, the peace treaty and the simultaneous armament of Armenia are incompatible. He recalled that to date, only two articles of the document have not been agreed upon. They concern the obligation to refrain from mutual international lawsuits and the non-deployment of representatives of other countries on the border, since "under the guise of so-called European observers on the border with us [Azerbaijan], NATO infrastructure has been created on the Armenian side."

Aliyev also stated that Azerbaijan plans to buy weapons from Russia, but now the process has been temporarily suspended "for objective reasons."

"The reason for this is that the Russian defense industry is working for the domestic consumer... As the Russian defense industry is ready, we will naturally conclude new contracts," the President of Azerbaijan explained.
