Azerbaijani journalist arrested in Georgia lost 30 kg
The editor-in-chief of the opposition Azerbaijani Azel TV Afgan Sadigov weighs 61 kg after 61 days of hunger strike. Previously, he weighed 91 kg. The man moves around in a wheelchair.

The journalist's wife Sevinch Sadigova said that his health continues to deteriorate.

"He has critically low sugar levels, which, according to doctors, can lead to a coma. He himself says that he experiences severe pain and can hardly sleep at night. But, despite this, he continues to fight," the prisoner's wife shared.

Sadigov has been on hunger strike since September 21 in a Tbilisi detention center. On the 17th day, he was hospitalized due to deteriorating health.

The founder and editor-in-chief of the opposition Azerbaijani channel Azel TV Afgan Sadigov was arrested in Tbilisi on August 3 on the basis of a fabricated Interpol wanted list at the request of the Azerbaijani authorities. In May 2020, he was sentenced to seven years in prison in Azerbaijan on extortion charges. Human rights activists called the criminal case a fabrication.

Sadigov was pardoned in May 2023, but continued to face threats from the authorities and fled his homeland. He is known for his criticism of President Ilham Aliyev and his entourage.
