Armenia and the United States will conduct joint training for participation in peacekeeping missions

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia announces the upcoming joint Armenian-American exercises "EAGLE PARTNER 2023". The ministry clarified that the military event will be held in preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions. The maneuvers will be held from September 11 to 20 at the Zar training center of the peacekeeping brigade of the Armenian Defense Ministry.

“The goal of the exercises is to increase the level of coordination between the units participating in international peacekeeping missions, the exchange of best practices in the field of command and tactical communication, as well as to increase the readiness of the Armenian unit for the planned assessments of the “Operational Capability Concept” of the NATO Partnership for Peace program,” it says. in the message of the Armenian defense department.

Note that Armenia is a member of the CSTO military bloc, along with Russia and several other states that were part of the USSR. At the same time, the country maintains partnership relations with NATO. The first joint exercises of the Armenian and American military were held back in 2013.

The upcoming maneuvers received a wide response, as they were announced against the background of the growing tension of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, as well as an absentee exchange of harsh statements between Yerevan and Moscow. Thus, yesterday the Russian Foreign Ministry asked Armenia for clarifications regarding the country's government sending the Rome Statute to the Parliament for ratification. “We will decide on our next steps based on the content of Yerevan's response,” said Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the ministry.
