Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused his predecessors—former presidents Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan—of concealing the truth about the Karabakh settlement from the Armenian people. At a briefing in Yerevan, the head of the Armenian government noted that all these politicians in opposition to the current government recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan but did not disclose this information to the public.
The Armenian side asked not to consider one of the planned documents at the upcoming session of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO states in Minsk. We are talking about draft decisions to provide assistance to Yerevan.
Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan explained why Yerevan asked to remove the document from the agenda of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
“We stated that it is necessary to fix where the CSTO zone of responsibility begins and ends. Unfortunately, the territory of Armenia with its borders is not recorded in writing. Problems in working with the CSTO are connected with this,” Arshakyan said.
Armenia has de facto withdrawn from the CSTO, said political scientist Beniamin Matevosyan. According to him, the lack of a formal exit is due to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s attempt to find some kind of security guarantees.
