The territory of Armenia cannot be used by third countries to carry out military actions against any of the neighboring states. This was stated by the country's Foreign Ministry in response to information disseminated by Ukrainian intelligence about Moscow's increasing military presence in Armenia.
The day before, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Moscow had accelerated the staffing of its military base in the Armenian city of Gyumri in order to increase pressure on the countries of the Transcaucasus. According to Ukrainian intelligence, military personnel are being recruited in the Rostov and Volgograd regions, as well as in Crimea. Russia is also looking for volunteers in North Ossetia and Adygea.
"The deployment of Russian troops in Armenia is an element of the Kremlin's comprehensive strategy aimed at destabilizing the global security situation. Along with inciting interethnic conflict, Moscow is increasing its military presence in the Caucasus. It is likely that the deterioration of relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation was prepared in advance," the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted in a statement.
