Vladimir Zhilinsky, former coordinator of the Golos voters' rights movement, who was detained in Armenia, has been released. The arrest was related to the activist's status as a wanted activist in Russia.
The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alain Simonyan, clarified the country’s initiation of the process of approval of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
«We started the process of ratifying the Rome Statute two or three months ago - before the Hague court took a decision on the arrest of President Putin», - said Simonyan.
It should be noted that if the agreement is ratified, Armenia will become the second country in the South Caucasus to which Putin is banned. Georgia has accepted the first jurisdiction of the ICC.
Putin will remain an alleged criminal until he is brought to trial, or he is tried and acquitted. This seems extremely unlikely, so he will remain an alleged criminal for the rest of his life», - said prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan.
