Armenia stated that “at the moment” it is not leaving the CSTO and is not withdrawing the Russian military contingent
On Armenia’s agenda “at the moment” there is no question of leaving the CSTO and the withdrawal of the Russian military base from the country. However, there are disagreements between Yerevan and Moscow, said Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic Mnatsakan Safaryan.
Today a summit of CSTO heads of state is taking place in Minsk. For the first time, Armenia refused to attend it even at the deputy minister level.
A year ago, Yerevan stated its expectations of the Organization’s actions regarding the conflict with Azerbaijan, and subsequently announced its refusal to conduct joint military exercises. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan criticized the CSTO for not providing support to Armenia.
