Azerbaijani political prisoner went on a hunger strike and was put in a punishment cell

Agyl Gumbatov, an activist of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan party, held in the colony, went on a hunger strike, after which he was put in a punishment cell. He protests against the deprivation of his family of social assistance.
According to the prisoner's wife, for two months now a family with three children has been deprived of their livelihood and is supported only by material assistance from caring people.

Agyl Humbatov was detained on 11 August 2021 and subsequently charged with stabbing a man. Soon he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. A year before his arrest, he was twice placed in a psychiatric hospital in connection with criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities. Human rights activists recognized Humbatov as a political prisoner.
