Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan is interested in restoring full-fledged dialogue between Georgia and its Western partners—both the European Union and the United States. According to him, this position is the official line of the Armenian authorities.
Ruslan Izzetli, a member of the Institute for Democratic Initiatives, who was arrested in Baku, complained about the lack of access to necessary medical care in the pretrial detention center. Izzetli, who suffers from gallstones, reported that he had requested an ultrasound a month ago but had not yet received an appointment.
The human rights activist criticized the medical service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice, alleging a shortage of qualified doctors and, consequently, a lack of effective medical care for prisoners.
Ruslan Izzetli, along with Akif Gurbanov, head of the Institute for Democratic Initiatives, and other activists and journalists, are in custody in the Toplum TV case. The defendants face up to 12 years in prison under the charges brought against them. They were initially accused of currency smuggling, but in January, they were charged with six additional criminal offenses.
