In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
More than half of the schools in Dagestan are recognized as unsafe or in need of major repairs
There are 1,407 schools with 481 thousand students in Dagestan. Among these institutions, 143 are recognized as emergency and another 714 are in need of major repairs. In fact, over half of the schools in Dagestan are not equipped for full-fledged education due to the deterioration of buildings and infrastructure.
According to the state program “Development of Education”, in 2024 it is planned to build 18 schools with 6,176 places in Dagestan, in 2025 – four with 1,160 places, in 2026 – one with 300 places. In addition, according to the forecast, the number of students in Dagestan will reach 492 thousand by 2025, and 470 thousand by 2030.
Thus, according to the authorities of Dagestan, in 6 years the number of schoolchildren will decrease.
