Most of the cases considered by the military court in Grozny were about unauthorized abandonment of a unit

Last year, the military court in Grozny considered 78 criminal cases. It is noteworthy that most of them are about unauthorized abandonment of a military unit and desertion in conditions of hostilities and mobilization. In 2022 there were 23 of them, in 2023 - 47.

In addition, four cases of fraud and failure to comply with a commander’s order were examined, and two were considered under the article on drug trafficking.

Among the defendants were both ethnic Chechens and persons with other names and surnames. These are, as a rule, contract soldiers and mercenaries from different regions of Russia, who were trained at the so-called “Russian Special Forces University” in Gudermes.
