Anzor Dzhukaev, a 30-year-old native of Grozny, disappeared in Thailand more than two and a half months ago. His family and friends have put him on the wanted list. Representatives of the Chechen diaspora are participating in the search, and the embassies of Russia and Norway, of which he is a citizen, have been notified.
Anzor Dzhukaev, who entered Thailand on March 24 using a Russian passport, stopped communicating on June 14. He was last seen at the Echo Hostel on Koh Phangan, as well as in a local cafe, where he left his phone and a bag with his belongings. According to a representative of the Chechen diaspora, all official search channels, including the police and immigration services, have so far yielded no results. Local authorities have not recorded his departure from the country, and he is currently listed as having violated the period of stay.
Anzor's relatives and local Chechens tried to find him among unidentified persons in hospitals and morgues, but their efforts were unsuccessful. As the missing man's father, Aslan Dzhukaev, told the Novy DOSH publication, Anzor came to Thailand at the end of March for a vacation and planned to spend the entire summer there. However, contact with him was lost on June 14, despite the fact that there were no threats to his life.
Anzor's fate looks especially tragic if we take into account his participation in the events on the island of Utoya in Norway on July 22, 2011. Then, as a teenager, Anzor, along with two other Chechen youths, resisted the terrorist Anders Breivik. Despite this, he was initially detained, mistakenly considered an accomplice, since the young man behaved cold-bloodedly and did not cry. Anzor was later released and an apology was made.
Anzor's relatives continue to hope for his return and ask for help from anyone who can provide any information about his whereabouts.
