In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
According to a study by the Sober Russia movement, in 2023 the most non-drinking regions were Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia. They are followed by Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria. In 2022, the first five lines of the ranking were occupied by these same republics.
Outsiders in the sobriety rating are Buryatia, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Kurgan and Sakhalin regions, Altai. Moscow took 13th place in the ranking, and St. Petersburg – 18th.
When compiling the rating, several indicators were taken into account, including the number of deaths from alcohol poisoning and the number of residents with diagnosed alcoholism, the regional volume of alcohol sold and the number of offenses related to the illegal production and trafficking of ethyl alcohol.
