Chechnya and Dagestan have been named leaders for the minimal amount of real deadlines imposed by the courts.

In most regions, more than 35 per cent of accused persons are sentenced to deprivation of liberty. However, in Chechnya, Dagestan and Altai, this figure ranges from 15 to 20 per cent, which is in line with the principles of humanizing justice. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Vladimir Davydov.
Evidently, with the mentality that the thief should sit in prison, and judges, apparently, are alien to measures to humanize punishment. I ask the presidents of regional courts, where the figure is above 35%, to provide their explanations so that we can figure out," said Davydov.
Saratov and Tula regions, Moscow and Saint Petersburg are among the leaders in terms of the proportion of prison sentences in the colonies and prisons.
