Four North Caucasian regions were in the top ten worst in terms of socio-economic situation

On May 15, the RIA Rating agency published summary data on the socio-economic situation of Russian regions based on the results of 2022. Four republics of the North Caucasus - Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia and Kabardino-Balkaria - were in the bottom ten in this ranking.
The rating is based on data from Rosstat, the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Treasury. Experts took into account many factors: the volume of production of goods and services per capita, consolidated budget revenues, the number of people employed in the economy, retail trade turnover, the share of profitable enterprises, the level of tax collection, the ratio of household income to the cost of a fixed set of consumer goods and services, the unemployment rate, life expectancy, mortality of the working age population, the share of the population with incomes below the poverty line and others.
According to the calculation methodology, a region that is ideal in all respects could receive 100 points. The minimum possible rating score is 1.
The first places in the ranking were expectedly taken by Moscow (89.6 points) and St. Petersburg (86). They are followed by Tatarstan (80.1). The three worst were the Jewish Autonomous Region (12.2), Kalmykia (13.8) and Tyva (15.3).
