Dagestan Hit by Massive Drone Attack

Overnight into September 19, Dagestan was subjected to a massive drone attack. Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova reported numerous explosions near the port of Kaspiysk, home to ships and military facilities of Russia's Caspian Flotilla.

An air raid alert was issued in Dagestan at approximately 04:38. Residents were warned of potential mobile internet disruptions, and airports across the republic’s cities were closed to air traffic.

Ukrainian drones also targeted the Rostov region overnight. Governor Yury Slyusar stated that about a dozen UAVs were shot down over the region; he specified that the drones were destroyed in Rostov-on-Don and in the Millerovsky and Azovsky districts. No casualties or damage were reported.

Additionally, the Ukrainian OSINT project "CyberBoroshno" published satellite imagery from September 18 confirming an attack on the Rostov-Tsentralny military airfield. The photos show the complete destruction of two Mi-8 helicopters, as well as An-12 and An-26 military transport aircraft.

On September 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the SBU had carried out a precision strike on a military airfield in Rostov. According to him, three helicopters and three aircraft were hit in the attack.

In total, following the events of the night leading into Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported shooting down 344 Ukrainian drones over 16 Russian regions and the Black Sea.
