Elena Patyaeva—a friend of Seda Suleymanova, who disappeared three years ago after being forcibly returned from St. Petersburg to Chechnya—was detained in Grozny. On August 23, Patyaeva stood by the monument to journalists who died for freedom of speech, holding a sign that read: "I demand an investigation into the murder of Seda Suleymanova." This was reported by the human rights project "Slovo Zashchite" (Word for the Defense).
The Dagestan muftiate called on imams to pray for an end to the war
The Muftiate of Dagestan appealed to all imams of the republic’s mosques with a request to read a prayer (dua) at Friday services for an end to the war and bloodshed in the land of Palestine. A message about this appeared in the official Telegram channel of the public organization.
“The bloody events in Palestine did not leave any of us indifferent. Every day it claims hundreds and thousands of lives, sparing neither children, nor women, nor the elderly. May the Merciful Lord accept our prayers and extinguish the fire of war on this long-suffering land! Amen!" - reports the muftiate.
In addition, Palestinian flags appeared in Dagestan. They are hung on cars and mosques.
